About API Rates
API Rates is an independent desk that tracks what APIs actually cost, verifies every number against the provider's own pricing page, and logs it publicly when the price changes.
What this is
We publish plain, comparison-first entries on the APIs developers meter and pay for: LLM inference, speech (TTS and STT), transactional email and SMS, maps and geocoding, and vector databases and embeddings. Each entry lays the providers side by side at real per-unit rates.
How we verify
Every price is read directly from the vendor's official pricing page and linked as a source, with the date it was checked. We do not copy competitors' tables or republish vendor marketing. Where a number depends on usage or region, we say so. How we verify pricing.
Corrections and changes
API pricing changes constantly. When a plan we cover changes, we update the entry, re-verify the other rows, and record what changed — with a date — in the Change log.
How we're funded
API Rates plans to run display advertising to cover hosting and the team's time. We are not paid by any vendor to feature or rank them, and no entry is sponsored. If a vendor relationship ever exists, it will be disclosed on the entry. Our full Editorial policy spells out how we handle vendors.
